Space Cake Smash

Little Alex was recently in my Greendale photography studio for his space cake smash! It’s always fun seeing all of the unique themes and colors that parents choose for their kids first birthday cake smash session. This was unique to say the least because of the color scheme for sure!

Alex’s mom sent me a photo of his theme for his first birthday party. She was hoping to do his smash the same theme and color scheme, so it really helped that she sent me a photo of what she was looking for. These colors used were pretty specific shades of matt blue and beige, and since there are SO many different shades of balloon colors out there right now it’s great to have an inspiration photo to get the colors right!

Alex was all smiles for his pre-cake shots! We put the cake in and while he started crawling away it took a fall off the cake stand! This has happened in the past with other cake smashes, however sweet Alex ended up being a little scared of the cake after that. We pulled out all the stops, putting cheerios and little treats on top of the cake etc. Eventually he sat a little ways away from his cake, and started picking at it! Soon enough, I was able to move him a bit closer and we finally got him to warm back up to it! I ended up getting some really sweet shots of him with his cake.

Alex’s Mom was also curious what type of outfits most kids wear for their smashes! Since we did a space cake smash I thought a fun little space suit onsie would be fun. Mom found this amazing outfit, and I don’t think it could have been any cuter for Alex’s space cake smash!
