Little Sailor Girl

I was so excited when {J} contacted me about newborn photos.  Not only are they a U.S. Navy family, but her due date was the 4th of July!! How fun and patriotic is that?  I love working with members of our military and getting to hear their stories. {L} was so much fun to talk with, and ironically enough he is the same rate in the Navy as my husband was. It was so interesting hearing this couple’s story about meeting in Bahrain while {L} was stationed there.

There are many things I miss about the Navy lifestyle. It’s the type of thing that just never leaves you, even after you (or in my case my husband) leaves the military. Being a military member or spouse just kind of runs in your veins. The experience and people you meet along the way is something you hold very close to your heart.

These lovely clients of mine had decided to keep the gender of their baby a surprise. They ended up with a sweet little sailor GIRL! Mom and dad both wanted to incorporate the Navy and nautical look into some of their photos. I was SO excited to hear this! I told Dad to bring his uniform to get a few shots of him holding baby {J}. He also brought his uniform hat, and we incorporated this as well. I’m in love this these photos.

Mom was open to many different color options. They were so much fun and laid back, especially little {J} who was a perfect little sleepy head. We ended up with a lot of fun prop shots because of how great this little sailor girl slept!
