Mom loved the use of colors in my work, which is one reason she booked her son’s 1 year cake smash with me. I was super excited to find out during her phone consultation that she was pregnant and wanted to book me for her newborn session as well!

Mom was hoping to get images of HER parents as well during the newborn session. She let me know they were coming from out of town for the birth of the baby. I was so happy they came and I got these beautiful shots of them with their new grand daughter! These are memories they were cherish for a very long time.

I knew from the cake smash she loves bold, bright colors with fun patterns so it was awesome choosing backdrops, headbands, and other props for her little girl’s session. After seeing my work displayed in my home studio during the cake smash session, she picked out the adorable floral drop with gold bed and layering fabric. I was SO excited at the little smile I caught in this shot.

I haven’t used my flower bonnet in a long time but thought it went perfect with my yellow backdrop. These beautiful jewel tone colors were stunning with baby girls skin tone. I love the green with pops of dark pink within the flower bonnet, as well as the hint of dark pink fluff under the bucket. Ever hear of image stacking? Edit this snowflake along with me…

I decided a few weeks ago to pick up my macro lens, that I haven’t used in a while to try out some snowflake shots. ❄️

Not super easy. A lot of patience is required. 😂

I needed some special equipment to photograph these incredibly tiny and delicate snowflakes.

But it was so worth it. 💯

Since macro photography has a very shallow depth of field, it can be hard to get the entire snowflake on the same focal plane without moving it or having it lay completely flat on my surface. Resulting in some post process image stacking! Taking multiple shots with different parts of the snowflake in focus, then essentially stacking the images on top of each other so the entire snowflake is in focus. 🤗

Although this is a very simple tutorial using only 2 images, and the bottom of snowflake isn’t in focus. It gives you a great appreciation for macro photography, and the unseen beauty of winter in Wisconsin! ❄️❄️❄️
