Newborn Photographer in Milwaukee

What a sweet family in my new Milwaukee studio. As a newborn photographer in Milwaukee, I work with lots of different people and children. I must say, these client’s kids were absolutely adorable. Big sister was so cute with her big brown eyes! She was one of the most cooperate siblings I’ve gotten to photograph! Her newborn baby brother sure is lucky to have her.

New Studio

Just before this session I moved into my new studio location in Milwaukee in the Bayview Neighborhood. Of course being a newborn photographer in Milwaukee, moving into a new location takes some getting used it! Not only grabbing last minute props, swaddles, and hats are within my studio and remember where I stored them, but also getting used to a change in workflow and lighting! This adorable family made one of my first sessions at my new Milwaukee studio a breeze!

Newborn Session Album

Ahead of scheduling their session Mom had wanted to make sure I was able to fulfill their request for a newborn session album. They had recently moved to the Milwaukee area from out of state, which is where they had their daughter’s newborn session by a local photographer. With their daughter’s newborn session they purchased an album, and wanted something similar for their son. The album they wanted had an acrylic cover, which isn’t something I had offered to client’s in the past but I was more than happy to order one for them! When their album came in my client’s were absolutely thrilled at the premium quality. It was one of the most beautiful albums I’d seen. The acrylic cover was SO thick and stunning and the colors were spot on. To see a short video of this beautiful album, check on my Instagram or Facebook pages!

Ever hear of image stacking? Edit this snowflake along with me…

I decided a few weeks ago to pick up my macro lens, that I haven’t used in a while to try out some snowflake shots. ❄️

Not super easy. A lot of patience is required. 😂

I needed some special equipment to photograph these incredibly tiny and delicate snowflakes.

But it was so worth it. 💯

Since macro photography has a very shallow depth of field, it can be hard to get the entire snowflake on the same focal plane without moving it or having it lay completely flat on my surface. Resulting in some post process image stacking! Taking multiple shots with different parts of the snowflake in focus, then essentially stacking the images on top of each other so the entire snowflake is in focus. 🤗

Although this is a very simple tutorial using only 2 images, and the bottom of snowflake isn’t in focus. It gives you a great appreciation for macro photography, and the unseen beauty of winter in Wisconsin! ❄️❄️❄️

A fun little experiment this morning in the -37 degree weather here in Wisconsin. This happened within about 30 seconds! Yes I have some videos too, but putting together a ton of still images I took was way more fun. ❄️

One more of this beautiful owl! ❄️👌🏻

WOW. 🤩

Not at all client related…. But absolutely worth a permanent spot on my feed!

I was so excited to catch a few shots of this beautiful, elusive snowy owl hanging out in Oak Creek. ❄️These owls come down from the arctic every few years, so it’s pretty rare for it to be hanging around. I had to walk across a frozen field for a slightly closer shot, while giving it lots of space. Of course like a true Wisconsinite I left my house with no hat or gloves in 23 degrees (11 with the wind chill). 😂 It was totally worth the frozen hands!
