Yay! You’ve finally made it to senior year of high school! Can you believe it?  It’s one of the most exciting years of your life. Those fun Friday nights watching your high school’s football team win big, and sitting across from your best friend in chemistry will soon be memories you’ll cherish forever. Hold onto this year as long as you can, it’s definitely going to be one of the best! Let’s remember your favorite outfit and hairstyle with your Milwaukee senior photography session! As a Milwaukee senior photographer here are tips on what to expect during senior sessions.

Incorporating hobbies or activities into my senior client’s photos are so much fun. If you play tennis and want a few shots with your uniform and racket that would be awesome. Or maybe we could have some fun taking a few photos on your high school track or football field. If you play an instrument, bring it with! The possibilities are endless.

Location and Studio Senior Photography 

I offer location and studio senior photography. I love getting to know my high school seniors and their fun personalities! Are you more of a city type kid, or a country kid? Depending on your style we can find an outdoor location just for you. I know of many outdoor photography locations around the Milwaukee, and Northern Racine areas. I love photographing my client’s in their own special location, and I’m more than happy to take your photos in the location of your choice.

If you are looking for more traditional style senior photos, we can do those in my adorable Milwaukee studio. My studio is located in the the city of Milwaukee, in the Bay View neighborhood. This is very easy to get to from Waukesha, Racine, and Ozaukee Counties. It’s just 20 minutes from Greendale, Franklin, and Oak Creek. I have various backdrops to choose from. Many are neutral colored and are perfect for head shots and full body images.

BOTH studio and location sessions can also be done! This type of senior photo session is 2 hours long. Check out my pricing page for additional fees that apply. Some location sessions may require additional travel fees. Please visit my Senior portfolio page to view more images.

Ever hear of image stacking? Edit this snowflake along with me…

I decided a few weeks ago to pick up my macro lens, that I haven’t used in a while to try out some snowflake shots. ❄️

Not super easy. A lot of patience is required. 😂

I needed some special equipment to photograph these incredibly tiny and delicate snowflakes.

But it was so worth it. 💯

Since macro photography has a very shallow depth of field, it can be hard to get the entire snowflake on the same focal plane without moving it or having it lay completely flat on my surface. Resulting in some post process image stacking! Taking multiple shots with different parts of the snowflake in focus, then essentially stacking the images on top of each other so the entire snowflake is in focus. 🤗

Although this is a very simple tutorial using only 2 images, and the bottom of snowflake isn’t in focus. It gives you a great appreciation for macro photography, and the unseen beauty of winter in Wisconsin! ❄️❄️❄️

A fun little experiment this morning in the -37 degree weather here in Wisconsin. This happened within about 30 seconds! Yes I have some videos too, but putting together a ton of still images I took was way more fun. ❄️

WOW. 🤩

Not at all client related…. But absolutely worth a permanent spot on my feed!

I was so excited to catch a few shots of this beautiful, elusive snowy owl hanging out in Oak Creek. ❄️These owls come down from the arctic every few years, so it’s pretty rare for it to be hanging around. I had to walk across a frozen field for a slightly closer shot, while giving it lots of space. Of course like a true Wisconsinite I left my house with no hat or gloves in 23 degrees (11 with the wind chill). 😂 It was totally worth the frozen hands!
