Milwaukee Family Photographer

So you’ve finally decided…THIS is the year you are actually going to have your long over due family photos! Yes, I hear this from many clients 😉 When families grow and lives get busy it’s hard to make time to plan your family session in the Milwaukee, Racine, Ozaukee, and Waukesha areas. Maybe it’s been years since last having professional photography done. Maybe you are feeling a little overwhelmed by the thought of it. It doesn’t need to be stressful, and as a Milwaukee Family Photographer, I am here to help! Here are some tips on what to expect during family sessions.

Family sessions are for immediate family members only (at this time Kellie does not offer extended/ large group family sessions). Family sessions generally consist of images of the entire family, sibling shots, then individual shots of children. Being a Milwaukee Family photographer I love taking fun candid “lifestyle” shots of my clients interacting with each other as well as several posed images. 

Milwaukee Location

Family sessions are great for 1 immediate family. Whether you want your session in my cozy studio or on location is completely your choice! Location sessions are primarily done within Milwaukee County, but I do have suggestions for other areas within Southeastern Wisconsin as well. From Racine beaches and lighthouses, Oak Creek fields of tall grass and flowers along Lake Michigan Shoreline, and Downtown Milwaukee urban atmospheres. I’m one of those photographers who loves it all! During the warmer summer months I do highly suggest outdoor family sessions. My clients end up having a much larger variety of posed an candid images to choose from vs. doing more posed within my studio. 

Family studio sessions are done in the comfort of my private studio located in Milwaukee. It’s very easy to get to from the Milwaukee suburbs like Oak Creek, Franklin, Greendale, and Muskego. Racine, and Waukesha as well! I have a cozy seating area, as well as snacks and refreshments. When photographing the entire family I generally stick with neutral colored backdrops. Individual shots of young children can be done with my more colorful, patterned backdrops and props! This is a great option for those cold winter months. Having a private studio and not sharing with other photographers means an ease of scheduling. I don’t need to reserve any timeframes, or work around anyone else’s client schedule. 

What To Wear

A big decision for your Milwaukee family photo session is what to wear. This doesn’t have to be stressful, and so much of wardrobe really depends on the time of the year. I have a GREAT resource for families on what to wear as well as a Pinterest page for more ideas.
